What You’ll See & Do

The tour will begin by jumping aboard our air-conditioned vehicle and heading towards the La Ramona area which is on the south coast of the Dominican Republic. On the scenic journey, you’ll pass small mountains, sugarcane fields, small farms, and more.

The tour’s first stop will be the museum of indigenous people. At this interesting museum, we’ll see displays depicting the timeline of when the local people were colonized by a foreign government and you’ll also learn more about the simple and beautiful island life.

Our next stop is one of our favorites, the Cigar Country by Vegafina. This is a local Dominican cigar producer and here we will take a tour of the factory with one of their expert guides. They’ll take you through the steps of how to build a quality cigar while also visiting the sorting rooms and ovens to the production floor and humidors. You may even find yourself behind the table rolling one yourself. Their product is of exceptional quality and is on sale at the end of the presentation.

The next part of our journey will bring us to the beautiful Barbate beach. This is a local beach, for locals. You are welcome to have lunch at one of the many delicious restaurants with lots of them featuring freshly cooked fish dishes, from ingredients straight out of the ocean. While you’re there you can take a swim in the stunning turquoise waters. There are also lots of small streets to explore as we do a walking tour of the town.

We will then call it a day and we’ll take you back to the door of your hotel.

Some Important Details

DRLOCALS.COM team is proud of the beach cleanups that they perform in the region. These cleanups are funded entirely by the company. It is our own responsibility to facilitate the cleanup of local beaches that continue to have garbage and debris washed in from the ocean. At the end of every day, we hope to make the world a better place. Please see our about us page for more information and photos.

We are all aware of the hardships of the Covid-19 virus and how it has changed the way we live. On every single one of our tours, we look out for your personal safety and health. For full details, see our terms and conditions page.

Cancellation policy: We understand that sometimes – even with the best of intentions – the best-laid plans go awry. However, from the time that you make your booking with us, we commit your places and hold them for you. This means that should someone else want to go on the tour/event you are booked on, we may not be able to take that person or people on the tour. We ask you to please understand that, should you cancel your tour, you may be charged a cancellation fee. This is, amongst other reasons, why we strongly recommend you consider travel insurance as a part of your trip planning.

All of our day/night tours have no cancellation fees for changes up to 24 hours before your tour departure time. Cancellation within 24 hours of tour departure time or failure to take up a booked tour will result in a 100% forfeiture of the tour/event fare.
