What You’ll See & Do

Our day-in-the-life tour is the best way to visit the local community and experience the daily goings-on in a classic Dominican Republic town.

After we pick you up from your hotel, we will travel to the Dominican Republic’s beating heart, the town of Higuey. The epicenter of local Dominican life, Higuey was established over 500 years ago and is the home to many of the local workers. After we arrive, we will take a stroll through the local food market to see how all the hustle and bustle works. We will then visit the famous Basilica Nuestra, an entirely concrete church, and afterward, we’ll pay a visit to a local car wash to play dominoes. Our friendly, local guide will also delve into the world of cigars, chocolate, and coffee while we visit the affluent neighborhood of Colinas (the hills) and impoverished San Pedro (the hole), visiting local parks and monuments along the way.

Some Important Details

DRLOCALS.COM team is proud of the beach cleanups that they perform in the region. These cleanups are funded entirely by the company. It is our own responsibility to facilitate the cleanup of local beaches that continue to have garbage and debris washed in from the ocean. At the end of every day, we hope to make the world a better place. Please see our about us page for more information and photos.

We are all aware of the hardships of the Covid-19 virus and how it has changed the way we live. On every single one of our tours, we look out for your personal safety and health. For full details, see our terms and conditions page.

Cancellation policy: We understand that sometimes – even with the best of intentions – the best-laid plans go awry. However, from the time that you make your booking with us, we commit your places and hold them for you. This means that should someone else want to go on the tour/event you are booked on, we may not be able to take that person or people on the tour. We ask you to please understand that, should you cancel your tour, you may be charged a cancellation fee. This is, amongst other reasons, why we strongly recommend you consider travel insurance as a part of your trip planning.

All of our day/night tours have no cancellation fees for changes up to 24 hours before your tour departure time. Cancellation within 24 hours of tour departure time or failure to take up a booked tour will result in a 100% forfeiture of the tour/event fare.
